FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why is this a STATISTICS CHALLENGE?
A. Salary cap style Fantasy Baseball challenges you to select a team that will produce the best combined statistics in a given week. So, your challenge is to put on your analysis cap and look into your crystal ball to predict statistics. The commercial value of our game is based on this challenge and this challenge alone. We do not advertise player names or use their likenesses in any way. The names are attached to the statistics for historical reporting purposes and we base our official weekly results on publicly available statistics.
Q. How do I earn transactions or points for beating Coach B?
A. You earn in two ways for beating Coach B. First, if your team beats Coach B, you win a credit for one $2 transaction. And second, if your team beats Coach B, you win 2 bonus points added to your weekly score. If you tie Coach B, you win 1 bonus point. We automatically credit these to your account and you can view in your Team Summary, in Live Scoring, and in the Leader Boards.
Q. How do I earn points for winning my Weekly League Match-up?
A. Every week, you will compete head-to-head against another team in your league. If you win the match-up, you receive two bonus points. If you tie, you receive 1 bonus point. We automatically credit these pioints to your account and you can view in your Team Summary, in Live Scoring, and in the Leader Boards.
Q. Do I HAVE to fill 14 roster positions every week?
A. Yes, statistics apply to each roster position and you must select all 14 spots each week to have a valid roster. If your roster is not full, you will receive zero points in that Contest Week.
Q. What is a Contest Week?
A. Each contest week starts with the first game on Monday and ends with the last game on Sunday.
Q. How does the new weekly maximum of $14 work?
A. Each week, you may win a free trade by beating Coach B. In the past, these trade credits were subtracted from your total weekly expense. So, if you make 10 trades for $20 and you had one trade credit from beating Coach B, you would pay $20 - $2 or $18 for the week. We implemented a weekly flat fee a couple of years ago… and if you used the weekly flat fee, you would lose the right to use a Coach B's trade credit that week. Based on your feedback, this was confusing. For this reason, the weekly flat fee has been changed to $14 and the trade credit will be used. In both cases, your fee for the week will be $12 and 1 trade credit will be used. If you have no trade credits and you trade 7 or more players, you will never pay more than $14 per week.
Q. What is the transaction deadline?
A. The transaction deadline is 2pm CT Monday or game time for players playing in games starting before 2pm CT.
Q. Do I get credit for all 14 roster spots?
A. Yes, all 14 roster spots earn points based on statistics for each week.
Q. Can I trade for a player more than once in a season?
A. Yes, the number of times you drop and add a player is unlimited.
Q. When can I start trading players?
A. Trading is available as soon as you register. You pay no transaction fees before the Week 1 deadline, so juggle your roster as often as you'd like.
Q. What are salary upgrades?
A. During the season, some players will "outperform" the salary we assigned them at the start of the season by accumulating better statistics than expected. If you have one or more of those players on your roster, we think you should be rewarded for finding that "diamond-in-the rough." Any time a player's salary is upgraded and you have that player on your roster, your salary cap will increase, giving you more spending power. Eight times during the Contest - after weeks 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, and 24 - eight (8) players' salaries (1 Starter, 1 Reliever, 1 Catcher, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 SS, and 1 Outfielder) will be increased $3, based on Coach B's secret formula (that we're sure you can figure out). Only players that are in the top 10 scorers (year-to-date) at their position will be eligible for a player upgrade.
Q. How do I take advantage of salary upgrades?
A. In order to receive credit for the upgrade, you must have that player on your current roster at the time the upgrades are announced. For example, to take advantage of the player upgrades that occur after Week 6, you must have those players on your Week 7 roster at 2pm CT Monday. Upgrades are announced later that day and each player you have on your roster will have their salary increased by $3.
Q. I had players on my roster that received upgrades, but my cash salary balance did not change. Why not?
A. Remember, you still have that player whose salary increased on your roster. So, after player upgrades, your balance will not change. For example, if you had 2 players on your roster that received upgrades, the amount of money you can spend on a team has increased by $6. Those players that had salaries increase, however, increased for you too. You would need to drop an upgraded player to actually receive the extra $3 to spend on another player.
Q. How does scoring work for the All Star Week?
A. Typically, there are 3 or 4 games per team during the All Star Week, which would make the week almost an automatic drop week. To bring the week back into the mix, we will multiply your total score by 1.5 to create a new total weekly score. This rule applies only to the week of the All Star Game.
Q. When will you start dropping the 2 lowest weekly scores?
A. All weekly scores will be reflected in your year-to-date score prior to the All Star break. After the break, the 2 lowest weekly scores will be dropped and new season-to-date scores and ranks will be created.
